The Brooklyn ‘Blankie’ Project creates community awareness and support for children living in shelters. We set up blanket decorating stations at community events and encourage children to paint the blankets for children living in shelters. We use this time to educate the children about community, support for peers, and establishing compassion for others.
Each community blanket is divided into personal-sized ‘blankies’ and donated to children living in shelters. The children who receive these are able to visit our website and see the team that worked on their blankie. Our mission is to positively impact every child who receives a blanket and to give them a greater sense of support from their extended-community.
